I don't blame you!! I really want a sequel to Hyouka too!

That makes sense a bit, but I thought SAO was based on novels? So the material there is a bit longer than that of a manga.

I am just going to go ahead and state that if they don't make a 2nd season of Hyouka I will cry, a lot, and probably punch babies or some-such.

That and SAO had me so excited at the 1st episode that I researched it a bit. To answer your question, the reason that they are focusing on those side stories is because it's the only material the manga gives them. It's very short, I believe (Could be wrong) it had only 9 volumes.

AH! Don't stab me! I really like Binbougami-ga don't get me wrong! That's just my one criticism, otherwise I really think it's a successful comedy!

You need to catch up on Hunter x Hunter!! Things are getting really good!

My feeling for Jintai are pretty similar, but I like how it seems to be mysterious. You never know what to expect.

Seeing as how my knowledge on basketball is extremely limited, the realism (or lack there of) really doesn't bother me, but I've heard from many who have said this is why they can't watch the show as well. Understandable of course.

A Wakana fan, I see? You really hit the nail on the head there. Especially in the case of all the singing, I wouldn't believe they got better from day one because there's no evidence to prove that. Same goes with the other characters. They introduce their problems and then only sorta solve them.

Arcana Famiglia: So...you're saying I was good for dropping it after Episode 1? Yosh :3
Binbougami-Ga!: One of my favorites this season don't you dare talk bad about it *stabbedrepeatedly*
Chitose! Get You: Interestingly, I picked up Vol 1 of the manga at JManga because the preview pages were funny. After reading it, I can conclude none of the jokes can really flow on TV. So sorries for the show :p
Hunter X Hunter: (Still so far away from catching up)
Hyouka: Dang, only 3 more episodes left? Time has really passed...
Jintai: What why who what when where? That's kind of how I feel about the show. :/
Kokoro: Gets fairly interesting, but I'm watching you Oonuma!
Kuroko: I have not picked this show back up since the shot from the other side of the court...in a shooting motion!
Natsuyuki: The writing has been pretty clever in the show. I can only believe it'll end cleverly too.
SAO: Enjoyable 6 episodes, but filled with amazing flaws thanks to the LN. It better pay off for them with the main story rolling along.
Tari Tari: Y-you liked Wakana less O.o

but it feels it still needs to take that extra step to become something great

The reason the anime probably feels that way is because the characters have not really evolved since Ep 1. They're already cool characters who each have a backbone, but they can be further developed as the series goes on. None of the episodes have really improved on the characters' strengths, that's thanks to the situations they've been put in.
