Along with every series there are always at least a handful of people who will hate it. In terms of K-ON! this amount is only doubled, but there are still many closet fans and people who saw no problem with the series from the beginning…I happen to be one of those happy fans who have been enjoying this series as well since season one!

The second season has been pretty solid. This show only continues to make me feel nothing but happiness as I watch it. Yui continues to be my favourite character by a landslide this season especially since she has been so adorably hilarious as of late! From her calling Azusa when she was lost and even while she was wearing the maid outfit I couldn’t help but let my heart flutter for a while in the awesomeness of it.

The way Yui lives is how I hope to for myself. From what I can tell, Yui never does homework or studies (not that I really either, she sleeps all day (sounds a bit familiar of myself), she focuses only on the least important details in a conversation (I need to start not caring about what people say it seems) and she gets her sister to do everything for her (I’ve been trying this one out; it’s a definite work in process). I still have a little more to go it seems before my “live as Yui does” plan is complete! Granted, following this lifestyle I don’t think I’ll be able to get very far up any sort of “status ladder”.

Anyway, as I have already mentioned in a separate post, episode four was one of the best episodes I’ve seen from a slice of life series in a long time! It just managed to really capture a moment so perfectly and it had awesome monkeys in it and a pug, which also helped in making my soul much more complete.

I think the main reason to why I love this show and how it manages to continue to interest me is how even if the events are nothing like what has happened in my life, it still feels like a trip down memory lane. Having been a fool of the past (not anymore of course..) watching this show is like reliving the days of getting to be a fool. This series also comes as a good reminder that there is good in this world, and these seniors are soaking up all the moments they can.

The only thing that has really been bothering me this season and continues to annoy me from season one is the addition of Azusa. She has never managed to grow on me. I can see why it is good to change things up by adding a new character, but I like everything much better without her. So even though many people were praising episode five, I actually didn’t enjoy it much at all only because the original four weren’t involved and the focus was shifted on Azusa – Ui was adorable at least. Anyway, I’m very happy with K-ON!! so far and this season has been even better than the first one in my opinion. I hope the rest of the season only continues as it has been!

  1. From the last season, yes it did somewhat got rid of the redundant beach scenes in the first season. Like whist you say ewith your school life, same here since my high school years is obviously not the greatest and yes, I am currently going on my third year of college. Other reasons K-ON attracted me is because of the music aspect since I have played Piano and also Clarinet in the past (don’t know if I can still play, but whatever).

On the side note unrelated to the post: Big improvement since the last time I reviewed it. Keep up the good work. ;)

  2. @Chikorita157: It’s sort of weird that one of my main pulls is not the music aspect of K-ON…But I do like it (Fuwa Fuwa Time is an awesome song). From what I can remember, I have only played the clarinet for a year in high school, thus in comparison to you, you obviously have more “smarts” with musical instruments so I can see how the show can also attract you with that.
Thank you very much! Thanks to your feedback and feedback from others, I’ve been trying to improve! Glad it has been noticed :)

  5. People rag on K-ON about it being too moe and stupid and whatnot, but the fact of the matter is, it’s fun to watch. It doesn’t bother with things like a complicated or realistic plot, but it’s still entertaining so I watch it and I enjoy it ;)
I also have never warmed up to Asuza as much as the other four girls but she’s OK with me. Yui and Ritsu are still my favorite! :)

  6. @anonymous_object: People just don’t realize that people don’t only watch a show based on its appearance, sometimes it is just good fun. This show is impressive because it manages to take an otherwise boring idea and make it really interesting. Yui is of course awesome and I guess Ritsu would be my second favourite as well, I would have to think that over though.
