Durarara!! and Dance in the Vampire Bund ~First impressions~

Durarara!!
This is probably my most anticipated show of the season and I was happy to see that it seems to have promise. The story isn’t too defined yet, which I think only keeps it interesting. Although I have yet to watch Baccano, I’ve seen the first five minutes of the first episode and read enough about it to see how they are similar. Though, at the same time there seems to be some obvious differences that set them apart, but luckily with Durarara!! it will be having 24 episodes, so we will be able to get a chance to really get to know our characters. On that note, I am not too interested by our main character, only because he isn’t meant to be interesting and doesn’t appear to be either as I watched this. From a first impression view point, Kida I think is going to be my favourite, he is just so cool. Anyway, I have high hopes for this series so I just hope I am not disappointed.

Dance in the Vampire Bund
This seems to have been one of the favourites of the season and with the whole vampire craze, as even mentioned in the episode, I can see why. As a first episode, it definitely was not very successful. I waited 18 minutes for anything actually to happen and when something finally did, it did not seem that amazing. So a vampire turns into a lizard….not much you can say there besides the fact that it just seemed weird. And before we met the “lizper” (my cleverness astounds me, vampire + lizard = lizper? Get it? Bad joke.) we were dealing with a long conversation about whether vampires actually existed, which really served no purpose in the end or at least wasn’t worth spreading over such a long time. I just felt everything seemed sort of messy because at times they were using narration at random odd times, the episode itself seemed very choppy and it was not very engaging. Even the bit of action we got in the episode was not that easy to follow, and it was not very interesting to watch, but I will give the show for having a good ending for the episode. The “true” vampire princess seems to be a really cool character and what I have seen from her is a redeeming quality for the show and has convinced me into give this series more of a try because I think watching this show may be worth it to see her being awesome.

“only because he isn’t meant to be interesting”
You will be proven wrong. :3
As far as Vampire Bund goes, Mina seems to have run into a bit of a distressing damsel problem in ep 2 and it puts her further away from the original Mina. I don’t know how SHAFT intends to do the rest of the series but if it’s mostly loliblob fanservice then the whole thing is pretty much done for. Hope it doesn’t happen that way.
@Xiao: Well I know the main character in Durarara will have something or another happen to change his world or whatnot, but will it really make him more interesting? I am excited to see if I will be actually proven wrong
I can’t believe that of Mina! that is so disappointing….I was really hoping for her to be badass throughout.
I think Kida is definitely my favorite character too! : D
As for VampireBund, I didn’t really mind the first episode (I kind of loved that it was totally a troll and loled the whole time, haha). But the second episode was so much better! (but lol at the whole vampires and werewolves thing again).
kelakagandy´s last blog ..Black Butler volume 1
@kelakagandy: I plan on watching the second episode tomorrow (I haven’t had much time lately), werewolves you say? That sounds actually intriguing for me…
