Irrelevant cute picture to start off a post!

Okie dokie…well, I was finally able to get a rotating header thanks to the thread down at the forum (thank you all for the help!) and rather than just actually making some relevant banners that meant something, they turned out to be of an eclectic style, which represents Anime Princess perfectly when I think about it… Anyway, sadly I am no genius at photoshop or even basic programs, so nothing is very original in the sense of being self-vectored or coloured, but I do spend a lot of time adjusting tones, resizing and cropping images and naturally giving titles to my banners. I always love making banner whenever I have the chance and now I get to make a whole set of them!

So because of this I thought it would be appropriate to give everyone an idea of the seven banners that I have rotating around the site if you press refresh repeatedly on the front page, which as pathetic as it sounds, I have been doing at every chance I get because I’m so amused by it. As time goes by and I have the time, I’ll add more banners up, until then I hope you enjoy the ones I have!

This banner is of Pleinair, who is from Disgaea if you weren’t able to identify the character…I actually have had this banner already on my site for the past week, but I didn’t want it to be short-lived so that’s why I decided to add it within the new bunch. I actually sort of made it for a Easter type of bunny thing, but in a more morbid sense I guess considering it is the bunny army! Also, on the note of Easter, I hope for those who celebrate it they had a good time and if it isn’t Easter you celebrate, well I hope you had a great day as well! Anywho, my favourite part about this banner was getting to use the Trashco font, which is my favourite font in the world, but sadly I don’t get many opportunities to use it, which is why I was absolutely ecstatic that it worked well with the image!

This banner is from Dogs: Bullets & Carnage, which is something I really should get around to reading considering it looks fantastic. When I saw this wall, I was instantly inspired to make a banner out of it. I love everything about it and I still do, which is why I worked so hard to make something good out from it. Though, due to size, I had to crop her hand much more than I would have liked. Also, I was planning on putting some sort of saying or something in it, but everything I tried just didn’t seem to work well with it, which is why I decided it would work better to go plain and I don’t regret that decision. The arm though!!!

Macross Frontier most evidently… I’m actually more of a Ranka myself, but I had something in specific in mine when I decided to make this banner. I was going for an old fashioned Hollywood Broadway look in terms of fonts, so I decided to work from that and this Sheryl image turned out to fit the criteria. The thing I like about this banner is probably that it’s the only one that truly suits my site in terms of the mixture with the layout and everything else.

This one is form Zombie Loan and seems a little dark for Anime Princess, but I put too much effort in it to not put it up. I originally was just going to put the words “Anime Princess” in the black space, but then I would have to change the font size, which if you understand what I mean on some level, would make the banner look hideous. So then it was moved to one side the, with a lot of empty space on the left, which left me puzzled on what to place there. Though, luckily for me, at that moment a song by Kill Hannah started playing on my Last.fm, which was called Believer and although I don’t think much of the band, I heard the lyrics “Dying just to survive”, which I decided would fit perfectly with the banner! All I had to do was get rid of the just and it fit in perfectly and having seeing a few episodes from the series, I thought it worked quite well based on the theme of the series and all. So in the end, this banner has left me very satisfied with myself.

This banner has been something I’ve been thinking of using for a long time! I’m pretty sure the idea dates back to my old blog. I have actually done the idea several times, but they either got deleted out of boredom or the letters turned out all blurry and “dirtied” the background colour, which is when I realized that I was not saving the image file as PNG, which ensured a much prettier quality. Technically this is the first (from what I can tell) only male banner. Every single other banner I have made either only had a female in it or was a couple banner, which I’m sorry for everyone and technically knowing this is from Red Garden, I may even be wrong about the gender knowing that it’s convoluted series. Anyway, the thing I always loved about this image was simply the design of it that just looks so appealing.

Not much I can say about this one, but it’s one of my favouirtes that I did. It’s from Air Gear, which was a series I was never really able to get into. I originally wanted to get the crow on the guy’s head so badly, but that would risk the quality of the image, which is why I cut it out and instead left it with a lot of feathers. I was originally going to place lyrics from a Jefferson Airplane, which would read “Today I realize how much I’m in love with you”, but sadly it didn’t really work out and I decided that it would be best kept simple. Too bad…

I wonder if you already realized that this looks familiar to you because it should considering it is the same character from my banner of Dogs: Bullets & Carnage. I don’t even know anything about her, but I can already tell she would be my favourite character and apparently she’s a mute, which is pretty interesting… Anyway, the first thought that came to mind when seeing this image was Wizard of Oz. There’s the whole road and the dog that looks like Toto, I don’t see how anyone would think otherwise, but the overall feeling I got from the image was a place that’s special, which is where the line “Somewhere Only We Know” comes in. It’s actually the song title of a song I’ve known for a long time by Keane, if that rings a bell for anyone…
